IEEE/ACM International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies and Development (ICTD2009)

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The 3rd International IEEE/ACM Conference on Information and Communications Technologies and Development, ICTD2009, the premier inter-disciplinary conference on ICTs and human development, is seeking sponsors for the upcoming conference in April 2009. In the most recent conference in December 2007, ICTD hosted 200+ participants from over 20 countries, and we issued travel grants to authors of accepted papers who came from less affluent countries and who were not able otherwise to cover the costs of their trip. Without sponsors for that conference, many of the best speakers would not have been able to attend, and they would have had to ask colleagues to present their papers for them. In ICTD2006 and ICTD2007 we were delighted and grateful that our sponsors were able to bring at least one author from every paper that requested travel assistance.

We expect similarly prestigious and global participation for ICTD2009, and given many authors might be from developing regions, we seek organizations who find the topic of technology for development important to consider becoming Conference Sponsors. Sponsorship will go towards travel and accommodation of invited speakers as required, towards travel grants for authors of accepted papers, and hopefully, also to researchers and students who apply for travel grants simply to attend the conference. Preference is given to paper authors, and to those coming from outside of Qatar and who cannot otherwise pay the cost of travel to Qatar, especially students and participants from developing regions.

It should be noted that ICTD is an affiliation-neutral academic conference whose continuation depends upon the support of the academic, industry, and NGO research community focused on information and communication technology and development. For inquiries about sponsorship, please contact ictd2009@cmu.edu or the conference chair, Dr. M. Bernardine Dias, at mbdias@ri.cmu.edu.
